I Think That a Greenhouse Will Be Great

February 17th, 2012

I really would like to start to Build a Greenhouse. It will be for my wife because this is something that she has told me that she wanted for the longest time. She has been very patient though, and I feel that she deserves it now that I have the time to look into it and build it for her. All I want is for her to be happy, and I know that she will be when she can indulge in her hobby. Spring is coming soon, and I am thinking that she should really get to start off doing something that she loves. I feel that she has a green thumb that should be put to good use. I am sure that she can beautify our garden and enjoy doing so in the greenhouse that I built for her. It will definitely be something special for the both of us.

Beautiful Autumn Versus Tons of Leaves

December 11th, 2011

When the trees lose their cloak of autumn color, and the earth is covered with colorful leaves, the question is: “What do I do with all that foliage? Can be left there or be removed? “Wet leaves are dangerous if left on the terrace or paved areas, as forming a slippery brown carpet. For this reason, the leaves should be cleaned from all paths. Fallen leaves should be removed and the tender shoots of the grass on the lawn and perennial plants, because plants can rot because of damp leaves. Lack of light gives rise to unpleasant brown stains lawn. Read some leaf blower reviews on this topic. But the leaves are not harmful everywhere. Ideally, leaves should be placed carefully in layers with a toothed hoe and covered with little land, so as not to be blown by the wind, and the decomposition process is accelerated. Following these steps will ensure the speedy formation of fresh and rich humus, which in spring will help plants to flourish in all their glory.

Hoop Greenhouses Are Perfect for Any Backyard

November 15th, 2011

We were looking for a way to get into more advanced gardening in our little backyard plot, and we needed a way to protect some of our more delicate plants. We wanted great greenhouse protection, but we didn’t have a lot of money to spend. Hoop greenhouses proved to be the perfect solution for us. These greenhouses are portable and collapsible – we only need to set them up when we have to, and when we don’t, we can store them away. They set up in a snap. We don’t need any special tools, and they stake right into the ground. My wife can put them up all on her own in just thirty minutes. They’re cheap, too, and offer great value for the money. The steel frames are rust resistant, and the transparent plastic material is tough and durable. We have a pair of these hoop greenhouses, the seven foot by fifteen foot size, that we end up using every season to cultivate our finest plants. We love them!

Do You Really Need to Use Herbicides in Your Lawn?

October 26th, 2011

Also one should always use protective gear while handling the chemical to avoid contamination which can be quite deadly at times even to human beings. Most such herbicides come with clear instructions about how to use them and where, they also indicate the plants they are supposed to target. This prevents against using a herbicide that may affect the lawn and get rid of it rather than the weeds. Such herbicides should only be used in only when the need for them is quite dire as they may cause more harm to the environment than much good. Also it’s important to keep animals away from such chemicals as they are likely to be adversely affected by ingesting the herbicides. If they are likely to affect most of the grass types on the lawn one may need to ask themselves whether there`s is any good reason enough to use such herbicides.

Amazing Indoor Gardens Using Hydroponics

October 8th, 2011

The use of hydroponics is quickly becoming a popular way to cultivate an indoor garden. Plants are grown directly in water, without the use of soil, making an indoor garden less messy. The equipment needed for a hydroponic garden may be purchased in a pre-assembled kit or bought in separate pieces in a hardware store. Often the base of a hydroponic garden is PVC pipe with holes drilled in it for the plants to emerge. Water is piped into the PVC and gardeners can add the nutrients a plant usually gains from the soil directly into the water. This process allows a gardener to directly control which specific nutrients their plants have access to, along with the exact amount. This process is useful in growing tomatoes, among other produce.

Hydroponic equipment may be purchased fairly inexpensively and reused over and over again. The price of equipment pays for itself when a gardener considers the amount of money saved on expensive fertilized soils needed for indoor gardens.

Do It Yourself Gardener

March 27th, 2011

By doing your own yard work, you can save a lot of money over the course of a year. At first, you will have the inital expense of buying a lawn mower and a lawn sweeper, but the investment will be well worth it in the long run. You may find it difficult to find lawn sweepers at your local big box hardware store, but the product does exist and it’s well worth the purchase price. After spending (literally) hours on your yard raking up leaves, you will wonder why you never purchased a lawn sweeper sooner, as it will do the same job in very minimal time.

If the idea of purchasing all of these products is too much for you to handle, and you just don’t like doing yard work, then you should hire a gardener. They will have all of these supplies and can get the job done without you having to lift a finger. Well, just one finger to write the weekly or monthly check.
